Why New Zealand wool?

Open tab

Simply because New Zealand wool is high quality and readily available.

Why wool?

Open tab

Wool  is moisture wicking, meaning that sweat is drawn away from the horses skin keeping them dry. This is a great feature for longer rides.  It also means that the saddle pads are quick drying making them a perfect choice for multi-day rides.  No more wet saddle pads.

Are all Saddle Blankets Cotton blend or 100% Wool?

Open tab

Right now we are testing one design, Callista, in a cotton blend. This fibre is great for horses with sensitive skin that may be reactive to wool.  Just like humans, some horses, find wool itchy. The Cotton blend yarn gets softer with wearing and washing.

Are both Saddle Blankets and Saddle Pads made from 100% wool?

Open tab

Except for our Callista saddle blanket, all other designs of saddle pads and blankets are 100% New Zealand wool.

What is the difference between Saddle Pads and Saddle Blankets?

Open tab

Saddle pads are contoured whereas Saddle Blankets are flat.  Pads have the wool felt pad sewn onto the under side of the pad, whereas blankets have the wool felt pad inside the blanket.

Yes. The drum dyed leather will withstand washing. If the leather shows signs of drying out simply uses a good quality leather oil to revitalise.  The leather will get softer and more pliable over time.
